To Mall or not to Mall?

Shopping Mall MumbaiIn this day and age as our incomes become more disposable and trips to places like the housing colony market can no longer provide us with our day to day necessities we turn to the ever faithful shopping mall. Shopping malls in Mumbai , or any big city nowadays consist of at least 4 floors all stuffed to the brim with store after store, brand after brand it’s definitely hard to contain your excitement. And it’s just as hard to contain your anger when you receive you credit card statement in the mail. Right now with the cloud of recession hanging over the Rest of the world, Indians still continue to spend up large. As for me I am stuck somewhere in the middle. There’s one part of my family who are purely ‘label buyers”. They buy solely for the joy they feel in showing the world their designer things. And on the other side there’s a part of my family who are more sensible shoppers, looking for deals and the best price. As far as my opinion is concerned after seeing mall after mall I really miss the excitement and the fun that was in shopping in roadside markets. All kinds of shops filled with all kinds of cool and wacky things, all at a very reasonable price too. So when I buy items there I go home feeling happy knowing that I have done some nice, cost effective shopping. But my tips for all shoppers, mall or roadside, label or not would be to shop around for a decent price because there’s a difference between buying good quality or designer and being ripped off.

My second tip would be to really think before you buy. Am I really going to use that? As it’s better to have asked yourself the question than to buy on impulse and later regret the purchase or never use the item.

So, keep these tips in mind next time you go shopping to make for a fun and memorable shopping trip. And keep in mind that shopping at roadside markets can be really great if you’re looking for unique or budget friendly items.

Anyway, with prices of food and petrol rapidly increasing, money saved truly is money earned.
